Oblation
Fund The Oblation Fund is a
special account maintained and supported by almost every Community of Christ
congregation in the world. Its purpose is to provide emergency funds to local
church members (or friends and family of church members) in need. Most often,
these funds are used to help pay utility bills, rent, or to buy groceries
during a financial crisis. The Oblation Fund is meant as a short term aid and
is often replenished by recipients when they achieve a more stable financial
status. A special offering is collected for the Oblation Fund typically on
the first Sunday of each month. Members donate to the fund either by
specifying this fund on the offertory envelopes, or on their checks. Also,
any cash collected during this offertory is placed in the Oblation Fund. |
